Re: My 1983 Toyota pickup resurrection.
I finished up my drivetrain for the most part today. Bolted up the range box to the trans, cleaned up the rear case, installed the 23 spline input and resealed it. Here is what it's like to build a truck in your house: http://i268.photobucket.com/albums/jj27/cab4you26/Mobile%20Uploads/image_7.jpg Re...

Re: My 1983 Toyota pickup resurrection.
I'm not sure if they're rockwell birfields or not. These shafts came out of a galion. We use it to shuffle around locomotives. They may or may not be the same axles in 2.5 tons.

Re: My 1983 Toyota pickup resurrection.
I may as well live at school and work, but I've slowly been picking away at this thing. I've ordered a bunch of parts - clutch kit and flywheel for the 3rz, e-locker motor guards, triple sticks, I got all my adapters in for the drivetrain and both 23 spline inputs. I'm probably going to send my 2nd ...

Re: TreyXJ's 99 Cherokee
Really? Wow. Yours looks just like the one I saw. I didn't see the front of it, though. Everything else looked the same!

Re: TreyXJ's 99 Cherokee
That's a pretty clean jeep. I just saw it two days ago on the lift at Firestone.

Re: My 1983 Toyota pickup resurrection.
I received my e-locker back today setup with 5.29s. I'm less than pleased with the result. I payed a friend to set them up an right now I'm not sure what to do. I think I'm going to just try and set them up myself. I have never set up gears, but I've done a lot of reading and I feel like I can do it...

Re: My 1983 Toyota pickup resurrection.
I haven't updated this in awhile mainly because I haven't got much done on it. Up until now I've been trying to get my other vehicles in good shape. My F150 has had a rear main seal leak. So my neighbor let me use his lift and I put a oil pan gasket, RMS, flywheel, clutch, slave cylinder, and shifte...

Setting up gears.
I need some help setting up gears for my Toyota. I have two diffs to setup. One is an e-locker and one isn't. Putting 5.29s in the e-locker, 5.29s and an auto locker in the other diff. I don't have the tools to set them up, so anyone with the tools and know how to help would be great! If anyone is i...

Re: My 1983 Toyota pickup resurrection.
I haven't updated in awhile. School, work, and fixing my daily drivers has taken up most of my time. It seems like as soon as I fix my car, my truck breaks down. My car had a bent wheel for the longest time so I hadn't been driving it, finally got a 13in wheel and tire for it. I began driving it bec...

Re: My 1983 Toyota pickup resurrection.
The past couple days I have finished my knuckles, removed bearing races (Any tips for installing the new races into the axle?), went to the junkyard and picked up some wheels, doors, headlight trim, and headlight buckets. Por15, primer, and painted knuckles: http://i268.photobucket.com/albums/jj27/c...

Re: My 1983 Toyota pickup resurrection.
I got a quote from the machine shop for the alignment tool and he said it'd cost $1200.00 to make! for a dummy bushing and shaft! i told the guy made out of steel.....not gold. So that plan is a no-go. So the guy that sells them on Pirate had one left, but I told him no because I bought an air dryer...

Re: My 1983 Toyota pickup resurrection.
Today I applied Metal Ready to the axle housing and layed down the first coat of POR 15. I also sold my 22r, and I'm waiting on the machine shop to get me a quote on making some pieces to align my knuckles. "Bone dry" Metal Ready applied: http://i268.photobucket.com/albums/jj27/cab4you26/M...

Re: My 1983 Toyota pickup resurrection.
Had a little bit of time today so I managed to clean up the axle housing. I should be able to paint it tomorrow. I still need to clean up the knuckles, spindles, and whatnot. Oh and finals are finally over  so I should have a brief period of time where I can put out some work until summer c...

Re: My 1983 Toyota pickup resurrection.
Made a little bit of progress on the front axle today. Got both sides torn down before work. http://i268.photobucket.com/albums/jj27/cab4you26/Mobile%20Uploads/image-35.jpg http://i268.photobucket.com/albums/jj27/cab4you26/Mobile%20Uploads/image-36.jpg http://i268.photobucket.com/albums/jj27/cab4you...
