Like new 33” mud tires

I’ve got four like new Achillies Desert hawk XMT 33x12.50-15s for sale. 100% tread, no cuts tears or punctures, they are a good looking tire with real deep tread. I bought them for my ‘79 but decided to go back to 35’s. $500

Re: The Glorified Tonka Truck

Sounds like a plan, get it back on the road with some mild mods and start saving/planning for something bigger and better. If you eventually do an engine swap Chevy is probably the way to go, talk about bountiful and cheap parts...

Re: The Glorified Tonka Truck

Grubb's always got good stuff to say and numbers to go wtih! I would suggest just going through the donor longblock and replacing, wear parts, gaskets, and seals. Make sure it has compression, hone the cylinders in short block trim, maybe get a valve job and rebuild the heads, then put it in your t...

Re: The Glorified Tonka Truck

The thing is, is that for a stroker crank it is only a $30 difference in the cast steel crank and will give me around 60 more foot pounds of torque on the lower end. For rods I was going to get forged steel and aluminum hypereutetic aluminum pistons. All this new will cost around 900 bucks and shou...

Re: Another New Member!

There are a few of us in the club that also ride dirt bikes, I prefer trails and woods riding but there are a couple guys with dual sports. Nice looking tacoma, I had a '97 tacoma and now a 4 runner.

Re: AT vs. MT Opinion

What is the brand of those tires you just bought? Achillies Desert Hawk Xmt, there are other similar 'cheap' mud tires, go to www.simpletire.com and put in your size and browse through them. Not sure I would buy from them online, but many local shops can get those off brand tires for the same price...

Re: AT vs. MT Opinion

I agree with Krantz, deep mud is the main place you'll see any difference. I have BFG A/Ts on my '49 cj-3a, '88 f250, '99 f250 and my wife's '77 f150, ranging in size from 215/75r15 on the cj up to 35x12.50-15 on the f150. They go surprisingly well off road, the best of any a/t I've ever run and act...

Re: The Glorified Tonka Truck

My vote is just haul one spare, weight is your enemy off road and that's an extra 100-150 lbs. In the past 15+ years of wheeling I've never needed more than one spare (knock on wood)

Re: The Glorified Tonka Truck

To add to what has already been said, build your rig with a specific goal in mind, don't just go about it haphazardly. I built my '79 to be a fun rig for the trails around here. It's capable enough to hit the some of the harder stuff at places like Harlan, but still fun at Potts and Uwharrie. I plan...

Re: Big Gay Bronco Build

Not sure if you have everything back together or not, but it's generally a good idea to replace the converter/pump bushing, and even the torque converter itself if the snout isn't 100% perfect. It only takes a tiny bit of wear or slop in that area to make it leak again, even with the new seal.

Re: '79 F-150 build-up

So a continuation on what I had been working on this fall: Carb and ignition: I plan to upgrade to a better HEI unit, but in the mean time I did a little tuning on this one. I discovered that I wasn't getting full mechanical advance due to the design of the weights. It was only bringing in 10* of me...
