Battery cable Q's

Post by Ctrow »

I know everyone is going to hate this, but I won another winch. At camp jeep they raffle off the 8 winches used at the stationary winch points to the trail guides at the end. My step dad and i were lucky enough to both win warn 9000xd's. Seeing that it is far better then my ramsey, i could'nt pass it up. So this is the deal...

I put the warn on the front of my jeep, and plan on putting the ramsey on a multi mount. This way, i can put it on the back of my xj if we ever have another scout like recovery, or loan it to club and family members. Right now i'm trying to figure out if i can use for my 12 foot battery cables, and what i should do in the way of a fuse. Any help?

just make your own cables, advance sells it bulk by the foot ... but it will be cheaper elsewhere, maybe state electric supply would be your best bet ....

and go ahead and get dual batteries and a hoss alternator if you plan on running them both at the same time.

i'd like to upgrade the alternator and run dual batteries at some point, but that will be a while. I don't plan on running this winch on my jeep much. I'd just like to cables set up so i can put it on a rear receiver. What do you think about running a fuse?

You can get an quick disco set up with wiring and all from AWDirect. It's a towing/recovery type catalog. That would be your best bet.

after looking around, i'm not ready to drop a few hundred into seting up a winch just to loan just yet. So it looks like i'll get the mulitmount and those with a front receiver are in luck....
