Looking for 4.88 gears and locker

Post by tomg »

Looking to put some money in my axles.

Currently have a Dana 30 in the front and 44 in the back with a limited slip. Currently stock with 3.73, put the 35 Baja Claws on last Friday and now want to re-gear.

Looking to buy 4.88 gears front and back, with master install kits.
Sort of doubt anybody has some, but was wondering if anybody had suggestions? So far the best deal I have found is this...

http://www.4x4groupbuy.com/store/yukon- ... cea0568a47

Next I was looking at putting a lunchbox locker in the back. Cheapest I found new was a Spartan Locker for $260.

Would also consider a locker for the front if cheap enough.

Any suggestions or ideas would be appreciated, thanks.

$520 is a great deal for both install kits and gear sets..I dont think your going to find it much cheaper than that. Look on ebaymotors, jeepforum and other forums for your lunchbox lockers..I have seen a couple over the past month for $150 to $180.

Here is a Detroit...Its more expensive than a lunchbox type..but detriots are the shit.. and with a full-case locker like this you dont have to buy a new carrier...so if you can find one for around $350 or so then it would ultimately turn out to be the same price as a lunch-box + price of new carrier..just something to think about.

Thanks, I like the gear set and probably going to order them tomorrow or monday.

I contacted the guy with the detroit locker, he still has it, 420 shipped here. Good deal?
Also said it's a Detroit Softlocker, not sure the difference of the softlocker, but from what i found on other sites, its still a full locker, just runs quieter?

I guess some clarification on that would be great.

Yeah the only difference in the soft locker vs an older style Detroit is that soft locker is quieter. Like you said it is still a full case locker. $420 is a little high for me. I would tell the guy you will give me $350 plus shipping or something like that would be better. But $400 is not bad at all they are over $500 new

i would agree. 400 is a little steep for one with 30k on it but not by too much. If you can beat him down at all I'd say youre good to go on that one
