Very nice. I thought you already had a cv rear shaft? What are you doing about your front shaft for potts?

I cant find the female splined axle end of my cv that I ran last time. I think I may just run my shitty ass front that I have right now, at much as I dont want to.

Re: YJ goes under the knife
Picked up a new superduty 1350 cv for the rear today and have a few fancy toys in the mail...
Planning on tubing out the front end of it tomorrow as well as fixing the carrier bearing and possibly finishing the plumbing for my trans cooler if the fittings show up on time.

Re: YJ goes under the knife
1350 flange showed up today as well as mine pimpin chromolly 1350 front shaft from Carolina Driveline. I'm running standard joints in it at the moment because I'm not sure I will be happy with the offset Tom Woods style. We will see how Potts goes and see if I can make it work with standard joint. If not, I will be ordering some offsets and dealing with the vibes.

Re: YJ goes under the knife
My cobbled together/pre-trail fixed front shaft sucked so bad at Rausch at speed I just wanted to make sure I wasn't going to waste this trip and end up in 2wd. The old shaft will make a great trail spare. Carolina also was really good on price for what I feel to be a higher quality (atleast in terms of parts) shaft than what Tom Woods or Jesse were offering. Its 2x.188 wall chromo instead of standard 2x.120 wall.
The 1350 flange I got from Carolina is a little longer than the one I used to run. That combined with the fact that my rear output might be a tiny bit further back than my 4 cyl setup means that my old 1350 shaft might work so I will not have to shorten the new one I bought, that is, assuming the slip sections are the same.

Re: YJ goes under the knife
Update for stuff done before Potts.
Was able to re use my old 1350 cv so I didn't need to shorten/rebuild a new one yet. Had to clearance the cage out a bit, I still need to replace what I cut out with something a little bit out of the way.

New front shaft, 1350's all the way around now.

Rear flange

Installed a 12V outlet so I can charge phones/cameras etc.

Matt and I also put together a slightly more permanent floor solution this time around.

Re: YJ goes under the knife
In preparation for Harlan decided to pull the trigger on chromo inners.
Still need to finish my exhaust wrap in an attempt to keep engine temps down. Also need to build and engine skid since even just Potts did some damage to the pan, hate to see what might happen to it at Harlan. Also waiting on a limit strap for front driveshaft to show up from ECGS.
Getting at least one of my Pitbull Rockers warrantied out due to some sidewall splitting. Pitbull and Poly's warranty/customer service is great.

I'm not sure of the details yet, but I doubt I will get to keep it. They will cover return shipping I'm sure, though I would really like to keep it.

Lot of times they make you ship them the DOT number from the sidewall.

Re: YJ goes under the knife
Thanks man. I've owned the Jeep for 6 or so years and it has been built in stages. It took me about a year total for the last build (drivetrain swap/adjusting front suspension) though it was probably an honest 3 months work or so, I left it sit pretty much all school year 2011-2012.Blue wrote:Looks beastly man.
