Matt got what I was thinking. If you're worried about the structural integrity of the tube, the dowel could be welded to the back side of the tube and the pin could run across the back of the tube.
The other mount wouldn't work well in my rig. Toyotas are small. If I had a big :rainbow: bronco it would fit no problem :flipoff2:

Hey I'm a CCVT guy but i was trolling your forum a while ago and saw this thread... then yesterday saw these online and it reminded me of this thread. They say these mounts work for just about anything, most of their pics are for shovels or axes but a few have fire extinguishers. http://www.endroad.com/index.php/quick-fist-mounts.html
