yota mini-truck weight (frame + body only)

Post by maybs »

Does anybody have an idea about how much an '81 toyota weighs after you drop the engine, tranny, tcase, and axles? I'm preparing to do this and I just want to figure out how I'm going to handle the carcass once I'm done with it.

are you worried about where to take it, or how to get it there?

I figured I'd be taking it either to the place in roanoke or that other one that I don't remember right now (around Galax or somewhere down there). I'm mainly wondering how I will get it there, which might involve getting it up onto a trailer when it has no wheels. Depending on how much it's gonna weigh, I guess I might have to wait until it's on a trailer before removing the axles?

Just so you know.

I bought an 80 pickup with no motor.

I took out the trans, t-case, axles, springs.

When I took it to the scrap yard I had the bed filled with other odds and ends scrap metal, and it was around 2000 pounds.

So I would guess just the truck was around 1500.

some of the f-toy guys are saying that a comp stripped toy chassis (no body mounts or other stuff hanging off it, but prepped for a formula cage and drivetrain setup) weighs in the neighborhood of 200lbs, some say a little less.
