2005 purchased in 2005 with 6k miles on it, 61k now with zero problesm, sticker was 44, paid 36. I have seen better deals since... Nathan recently bought one, maybe he can jump in.Yoda wrote:how much did you drop on that tow rig if you dont mind me asking? i might be in the market for either a chevy 2500 diesel or a dodge soon. havent decided yet.
I would vote for Dodge, but obviously I am biased. I have driven all three and done a good amount of research, went with the dodge. We have almost all Fords at work, ranging from F150's to F750's and then some Ford/Sterling dump trucks. 7.3 was a good engine, 6.0 is a POS. I would say at least 75% of our trucks with the 6.0 have had the injectors and pumps replaced, a couple of them have had it done 3 times. They also like to blow oil out a breather on top which makes for a nice mess and various other problems. Our mechanics trucks are all Chevy's with the Duramax, the mechanics won't drive Fords. Haven't had any major engine problems, but one truck is on it's third Allison. Dodge with Cummins and stick is rock solid, I went with auto due to traffic around here. The 48 RE is a bit stronger than the 47. I believe they have a 5 spd auto now, mine is only a 4.

Hell with all that BS. I bought mine at 9:00 PM on the last day they had to meet a quota. Loose a lil on a new truck, or loose a 25K kick back from Dodge for not selling enough trucks? It's pretty simple math. Sad thing is, I didn't even want it, but it falls back to the ole you scratch my back, and I scratch yours kinda thing.

I'm sure I'll catch hell from Preston, but get a Chevy Duramax. I have both and really wish I had 2 Chevy's. You can buy a Dodge a fair amount cheaper than a Chevy, but to me it's well worth the extra to get a GM truck. Had it been a, "I need a new truck" situation instead of my buddy calling me with a, "I need to sell one more truck tonight" situation, It would be a GM in the driveway instead of the Dodge.
