Re: Big Gay Bronco Build
Not sure if you have everything back together or not, but it's generally a good idea to replace the converter/pump bushing, and even the torque converter itself if the snout isn't 100% perfect. It only takes a tiny bit of wear or slop in that area to make it leak again, even with the new seal.

Yeah that was one of the things I considered but decided against it for time and cost. I am surprised the trans has lasted this long and wouldn't be surprised if it needed a rebuild sooner rather than later, so I was going for fixed for the trip. The bushing and snout looked good, but I am waiting on parts so I'm going to look into doing at least the bushing now that you suggest it. My initial inspection idea of good could definitely not catch that. I was thinking obvious scoring or uneven bushing wear.VerticalTRX wrote: ↑Mon Apr 24, 2017 10:51 am Not sure if you have everything back together or not, but it's generally a good idea to replace the converter/pump bushing, and even the torque converter itself if the snout isn't 100% perfect. Piece of junk coil poo poo'd on my in like an hour. Sounds like a possible failure mode is that the coil overheats because of too much dwell current. Got to send it back to SUmmit and get a Motorcraft one. That's what I get for using Racer Rick parts on a stock small block I guess. Never leaving a spare coil at home again, that's for sure!
Forgot the pictures of the "Sixlitre Tuneup". It is a timing bump (10 to 14 DTDC), 9 mm wires, a cap and rotor, higher output coil, and plugs gapped to .0055" vs .040". The jury is out on it, but wanted to give it a try since it needed new parts either way.
We got to wheel some on Sunday
