not only V8 ... but the 5.9 V8 is stiffer too :Dshmoken875 wrote:V8 zj coils have the higer spring rate, look for v8 coils, long arms will ride better than short arms, I wouldn't worry about it.Lukipela wrote:Yeah RE calls it a 2" coil spacer though and when you look for zj coils look for some out of the latest model zj you can find so that you get as much lift as possible. I want to get TNT's long arm set up but I'm sure how it will ride on the road, so I will have to get a new DD or get a different system.hklvette wrote: IIRC, you stand a strong chance of snapping the stock c-channel arms under full flex with the amount of lift you have. I'll be fabbing LAs for mine over the summer. You used 2" lift puck with ZJ coils up front right?

you should really stop talking.BlueDodgeRam wrote:save your money, get regular short arms, and buy a locker.
its not like your really rockcrawling and need uber flex.
a long arm setup is a great investment for anyone who wheels, tires on the ground, in any conditions, is better than tires in the air.

Umm, I bet I did. I don't understand what you think is so terrible about stock LCA's? Yeah, they suck if you bash them on rocks, but there are 100's of thousands if not millions of XJ's running around with stock LCA's and they haven't blown up yet.Lukipela wrote:I bet you don't have stock control arms in that pic.

Although I agree that long arms are an excellent investment for someone who wants to lift an XJ more than say 5", I do NOT agree that having tires on the ground is better than tires in the air.affende wrote:a long arm setup is a great investment for anyone who wheels, tires on the ground, in any conditions, is better than tires in the air.
I went from 'wheeling an XJ w/ INSANE flex that could keep the tires on the ground pretty much no matter what, to an 80 that picks tires pretty frequently. The truck feels much more balanced and stable when picking tires than with them on the ground and no suspension control.
Long arms show their benefits on the road, and on level articulation. Their achilles heel is they unload like a mofo on hill climbs. With some tuning/tweaking(i.e. center limit strap) long arms can give all of the benefits on the road and off the road, without the problem of unloading.

not disagreeing with that at all, but that wasnt my point. im saying get a locker for the rear first, then either just get some regular short arms, or get the long arms. see what im saying? not disagreeing, long arms plain work, they flex awesome, ride great, etc. but theyre not going to help you get up a loose climb if you only have 1 wheel trying to get traction. your power is still going to go to the wheel with less resistance, thus probably no forward motion. weight transfer is a big factor tooaffende wrote:
