if you found a truck w/ the motor you want, take the whole truck!! the major problem here is that the truck you found is a different bodystyel from the one you have. this means that swapping will be harder, because somethings are not going to fit well if at all. i'm w/ yj, just find you a burban w/ the diesel already in place and running, put your lift/axles/ect under it and run with it. or just start another project with it. it'll be far cheaper in the long run. with swaps, you always spend a ton of money finding the little shit to make it right. and trust me, from a guy who swaps driveline, you want every little thing right to make any kind of reliablility. or, you could just go buy a surplus humvee.
for the thought, but unless you've got more money than sense, i'd just find a running rig and go from there.

Wow. It's amazing how strongly people feel about diesels. I browsed through the CK5 forum over the weekend and there are hundreds of posts for and against that engine!
I have a strong diesel 3/4 ton suburban that would be the donor truck. It's got about 40K on the engine and seems to be running strong. No worries.

If that's the case, I still say it would be cheaper to keep the motor in the original vehicle and swap out all the other parts. But if you're like me, you're gonna do it anyway, no matter what someone says. In that case, call me when you get started and I'll lend a hand.

Ha! Good point. When someone gets all set on something, there is little you can do to change their mind! The donor truck is a complete rust bucket, so I don't really have a choice but to pull the engine and put it in my truck.
