i balanced my 33s with airsoft pellets ... work well ... but then again, my jeep never drove straight or smooth to begin with so ....
the beads tend to work best on medium sized tires ... dont try to balance a low profile tire with it .... and as size increases, the effectiveness tends to decrease.
the advantage of beads for balancing is that when you run low pressure offroad, you tend to slip your tire on the wheel (wheel spins, but the tire has good traction and stays put) then your balance is off ... it has happened to me a few times and its nice nto having to balance your tires again.
Stinson, im surprised the beads didnt work with your MTRs ... they generally do well with those as they are not square from the factory (read: they are not interco). though they are on the large size for beads IMO ....
medium sized tires usually do well ...
and x3 on procomp tires not being the best ... i have a set and they arent great ... marked improvement over my LTX MSs ... but they wear unevenly on road, they are loud, and they lose their balance pretty quickly ... hence me putting beads in them.
