Prompted by comments in the Harlan thread......

Greetings all, sorry I'm kinda late to the party. Name's Chris, been at Tech for 6 years (I continued on with grad school). Got bit by the Jeep bug last summer, been looking for a place to wheel and people to wheel with since. All stock 04 WJ 4.0L with QTII.

I originally hailed from Jersey, but I have since relocated to Blacksburg. Most of my 4x4 experiences have been in deep snow (last winter, anyone?), which I have enjoyed greatly. Not really in a position to sink a ton of cash into my Jeep now (tires are coming soon, that's $600-$700 right there), but I would like to see what she can do on the trail. When/where is the next meeting/trail ride?

PS: Heard about SC4WDA over on JeepForum.com...nice to find a group of Tech wheelers.

Welcome Chris!

The next trip is to Harlan, KY and it is this upcoming weekend. Might be kind of late notice for you, but if your interested send me a pm and I can fill you in on the details.

There should be a meeting the following Sunday (Nov.14th) in the Prices Fork Commuter lot on campus. We will talk about upcoming trips then.

We definitely encourage you to find out what your rig can do on the trail.

Thanks for the invite, but I've got some plans Saturday already. I can definitely be at that meeting Sunday. I'll PM you for details on that.

Extensive searching for trails in the area on JF. Then some random driving around yesterday (boredom and a full tank) and I stumbled on Bobcat Lane. Started up that until I saw the "Private Property" sign. Turned around. Then hit JF for more info on Bobcat Lane. Found your website.

Long and short of it, you guys are known over there, especially in the SW VA circles. :thumby:

That's good to hear. And thank you for respecting the private property sign. Bobcat used to be the club's 'local trail' that we maintained to some extent, but the land has changed hands in recent years. That said, there's nothing nearly as local, but there is some good legal wheeling not too far away.

We will be updating the meetings/announcements forum for details on the next meeting, so stay tuned.
