Well, I didn't make it to the car show but made good use of my time.

Pulled the 302 out of the Bronco for a "rebuild".

Question is how many exhaust manifold bolts are now sheared off in the heads? LOL

We pulled a 9" from dad's '79 F150 for the rear end before taking it to D&M. I'd like to find a non-cast HP D44 for the front from a mid 70's F150 or 78-79 F250 HP D44.

Was cool to actually get something done on this thing.

That is awesome and I had the same luck on my motor when I was rebuilding.

That would be nice, but probably just a cam, 4 barrel and headers, nothing fancy.

Pulled the interior, lots of rust on the floorboards and rockers. Probably gonna do some type of boatsiding/rocker guard setup knowing what it looks like. Gonna replace the floorboards as well.

Here are some pics:

Nothing that cannot be repaired to the level of trail rig.

Lots to do for sure.

Dad & I took the motor apart Thanksgiving morning.

(2) things concerned me during the teardown.

1. The cam bearings were coming apart and came out in pieces

2. The timing chain had slack on one side, had to have been out of time badly

Other than that, the engine was pretty clean and didn't show any other abnormal wear.

My buddy at work found me a complete rebuild kit for $290, so dad needs to come up with some coin.

The project is moving along.
