I am still waiting on a quote from Steel Services but if these are the prices I am finnding I will probably go with square stock. My main reason for round was looks any way and looks dont make it go any better.

Let me know what your quote is.
When are you planning to start?? I may do a tube order soon, but I want to wipe out the stock I have since I really want to replace all my DOM.. After my chassis is built and fully tubed out in the rear I'll be willing to let everything that's left go..
Mild steel wise the stock consists of the following:
2" .120 DOM <--a fair amount
1.75" .120 DOM <--a little and it may get all used up
1.5" .095 Seamless SR <--not much left, but I know where there is about 200 more feet I could get some of
Also have 1.75 .375 wall DOM and some 1.5" .375 wall DOM that'll be left over.
The rest of the stock is seamless 4130 but not much of any one thing and I plan to pretty much use it all.
2" .188 wall
2" .120 wall
1.75" .095 wall
1.5" .095 wall
1.25" .083 wall
1.25" .035 wall
So if you gotta have something let me know. If you're going to wait till end of Jan./Feb. I may be off-loading a fair amount.. Depends on how much more the truck takes for this project. Maybe I'll do my order by the time you're ready to build and you could get in. I'd imagine the $3-$3.5/ft. range for 2" .120 wall 1020 DOM then.
Oh, and please don't use square tube!

Dont worry I wouldnt build some ghetto fab square tube roll cage. Just got to come up with 3 sticks of 1.75 to do what I want to do. But if it came down to it I would put some square tube sides on the bed I have after all its already square.

actually, sir, these tires don't get ANY traction, believe it or not... And it's only 2 wheel drive.

not if it has thornturds on it....itll levitate right up outta the mud hole and float all the way across at 14,000 RPMS!!!!

Benny,
Lemme know about the .375 DOM. If you have enough for two lower links I think thats all im going to do for now on the buggy. I also need to measure the upper links as I am just going to use them with the heims in them currently, but they will need to be longer so if you have some tube that will slide over em I might be able to use that as well.

Just got quoted $507.20 for 3 sticks of 1020 DOM. Thats $8.45 a foot if you got a full 20' stick.

Yall need to check out steel suppliers in NC. Jason said he thinks the place around here get it from one down there. A kid on nc4x4.com is doing a steel buy, and for HREW 1-3/4 he is going 2.10 per foot, after taxes. Not sure on his DOM pricing though.
But 8 a foot is crazy.

Rebuild 'em.. You don't need any more than 1.5 .120 wall for uppers so it won't cost much.

Like I said.. If ya hold off I can probably hit $3.5/ft.
