Damn, I can't remember what the redline was. I wanna say 4500, but I'm not positive. Someone should ask Cody, I've heard he knows where his is

But I think the 4.0 has a much higher redline

x3 on the 6cyl not minding the high RPM's for extended periods ... i get my best mpg running around 3000 and the engine seems less effected by inclines in the road.affende wrote:

and another vote for 513 ...
and x2 on the jeep 6cyl not minding high RPMs for extended periods ... hell, they even like to be bounced off the rev limiter once a week
Mine would mind more then yours. The 4.2 is a whole different storyLukipela wrote: x3 on the 6cyl not minding the high RPM's for extended periods ... i get my best mpg running around 3000 and the engine seems less effected by inclines in the road.

they ping a little in the higher RPM range ... but if it blows up, it just means you were driving correctlyJwlman wrote:

ewww only 34.6:1, if I got a 4:1 kit it could be 51:1 hmmmmm.Jwlman wrote:I am pretty sure I will go with 5.13s. I can go 70 mph while spinning 2576 rpms and thats about as fast as I need to go.
If you are wondering how I figrue this stuff out, here is a great site

What crawl ratios do you all have?
Mine is 42.62 and goning to be 53.2 with the new gears
Did you make sure to click the auto tranny box?shmoken875 wrote:ewww only 34.6:1, if I got a 4:1 kit it could be 51:1 hmmmmm.Jwlman wrote:I am pretty sure I will go with 5.13s. I can go 70 mph while spinning 2576 rpms and thats about as fast as I need to go.

I wouldn't trust the speed portion too much james. On my way down here I got that ticket for goin 80, and I was turning 3000, the chart says at 3000 I'd be doing 91
Hmm, stock it should run at 2000ish at 70 mph. With the 5.13 it would be 500 above that. Kinda a big jumpVerticalTRX wrote:54.31, stock
If I were you I'd stick with a higher axle ratio and gear down the t-case, or even a tranny swap for a low first gear. It sounds like you don't drive on the highway a lot, but for the times you do it'd be nice to cruise at a more reasonable RPM. Plus, you'll probably get a lower overall crawl ratio if you go with t-case gears or a lower first gear.
