well somehow that motor I swapped in may run better than my factory motor did... its smooth as hell. Got a few little electrical issues still floating around like I wired my fan backwards so its pushing air out of the engine bay which makes for a good heater for now. Also all my dash lights went out which is strange because I didn't even mess with any of that circuitry.... Still need driveshafts, exhaust, and to get a bunch of braided wire covering for all my wires.

Got my jeep moving under its own power again. Everything works pretty well no crazy noises. Somehow I rebuilt the Dana 300 right and it didn't immediately lock up like the dana 20 I built for one or our broncos... Still need to refine the tcase rear axle shifter, the front shifter works perfect, rear you have to have like a 3' lever arm on to get to move. Motor is only running in closed loop cause it doesn't have a second o2 sensor yet. (had to order more stuff for exhaust) Overall for first drive it went pretty well. nothing caught on fire, nothing seized up and nothing made crazy noises.

So got it all back together and not terribly happy with how the 300 came out... it works but just needs a lot of fine tuning. I really dont think i could get it to work as i wanted without completely redoing the flip kit and making it out of a solid billet. Then i would probably snap the weak rear output shaft and have to replace it so instead keep sinking money into it i said F*** it and bought a 2 speed stak.... 4.33:1 ratio

Came with a set of 1350 driveshafts that should work as well!!!!

Can you weigh it and your 300 and your 241 (or whatever was stock) for comparison?

So im not sure how Stak did it but that thing ways 150lbs... that's with an aluminum housing so the internals must be pretty freaking huge. I will be making a mount for it so I don't break my aw4 in half. Stock dana 300s are 85lbs, I added about 10lbs to it flipping it and shifters. Stock tcase was a 231 which is around 75-80lbs stock so probably around 90lbs with the SYE kit. The Stak is also significantly larger/heavier than the atlas in the bronco, however it is approx. 2.5 inches shorter because of the non gear driven speedo sensor in the tail housing. This was another reason I pulled the trigger on this is an atlas would have been a whittle to long. Ill post comparison pictures once I pull the case down. Just gotta finish the plasma table first so I can cut all the brackets I need    :sheila: :sheila:

A little background on this case, its approx. 4-5 years old bought right before the death of stak, ran in a 2.5 YJ for 3 years on 36s and then 2 years is a 4.0 tj on stock axles and 35s... so shouldn't have seen much abuse. All trail miles.

Also got two driveshafts... but because I was more worried about the case than the dshafts I didn't notice the front is a non-cv (double cardan) shaft. Also my ignorant ass didn't realize that non flange 1350 double cardans are rare and every expensive. Therefore I will be purchasing a flange for the front and cannibalize a soopa duty dshaft to make it all work.

I'm not following very well. What dshafts came with it and are you trying to use a double carden in your Jeep on the case side front?

it came with a set of high angle driveline shafts built for a 6" long arm tj. The rear has a double cardan at the case. The front does not have a double cardon on the front, my current front d-shaft is a double cardan. Therefore I believe i will need a double cardan on this front as well. I am going to try and run the non double cardan shaft and see what happens. I am just upset that i didnt notice that when i was looking before i bought the setup. it wouldnt have been a deal breaker but could have maybe saved me a wittle bit of moneys.

Got the 300 out tonight and planning to put the stak in by this weekend. Shouldnt be to bad, going to make a mount for the rear of the case to take some of the load off the tranny. Have read alot of people breaking housings if they dont mount them somehow. Planning to mount to the parking brake mount where it bolts to the rear tail housing of the trans.
