turns out I got the hardest dana 44 to install into a yj. The tube does not exted to the end of the axle, it switches to cast right where I need to weld the spring mounts on. Also the diff is in the way of the other spring perch for sua.

So I either need to retube the axle or get a F250 dana 44 and mix and match some parts to make it work and still install it soa

sorry, it hadn't occured to me to give you a heads up about the 78-79 housings. nonetheless, spring perches can and have been done on those axles. or you can sit on it and wait for an earlier housing to come along. 76-77 will prolly have disk brakes too, but something earlier with drums you could convert to disks with what you have sitting there.

same as your's- 78 bronco. I narrowed mine 6" on the passenger side. the nice thing about the 78-79 housings is that there is less involved in narrowing them than the ones with everything welded on separately.

Does anyone know of a better axle swap canidate? Needs to be HP, drivers drop and be 5 on 5.5 or be able to converted to it with the parts I have on this dana 44. Width dosen't matter cause I will just cut it down and use the shafts I have

1/2 ton ford 77, 76, some earlier years but at some point they went to closed-knuckle housings. anything before 78 didn't have the cast wedge/knuckle contraptions.

Gears and lockers for the 44 and 9 inch. The jeep should be up and running within a week after school gets out.

Tore the jeep apart to do the cage today. All it needs now is to finish the cage, the new axles put in, outboard the rear shock, get new seat (the passanger side is so messaed up I can't even reinstall it) and make the steering.

You're gonna need another Jeep to carry all of them around.

Rear isn't flexing too well... probably be better when I have 300lbs of gear back there.
