2 questions:

1. You planning on any type of "spreader" between them, front to back?

2. Are you installing the seat flat?

2 answers:

1. I'm planning on it. Probably one under each seat. I might cut out the 2x2 braces I put in last month in light of the support this seat frame gives with the "triangulation" on the boatsides. The hull is now a trapezoid looking crossection instead of 1 dimensional planar stuctures that relied on the welds of the body to the rockers and strength of the outrigger to frame welds which were a giant moment arm under the compression it would see in a rollover situation. Seeing how well Will's worked in his roll with a similar design, I think I can loose some weight and maintain my peace of mind. I'm going to run through the fab work I've done and see what I can shave off. I'd like to not have this rig weigh as much as an M1A2 Abrams, especially with an underpowered and undergeared drivetrain, lol.

2. The seat tabs and frame are level with the ground, but the seat has a rearward rake. I sat in it and it feels perfect. I was excited I was able to one-shot it. I have a good field of vision and my head is far enough away from the roof and future cage that I wont have to worry about smaking my chrome dome all the time. It's very close to the original seat location and feel.

You will also have to have some sort of connection in line with the seats between the two spreader tubes to mount your lap belts to. I would imagine the outside mount could be attached to something on your boatside support structure, but the inside will likely require a dedicated spreader between the two current ones.

I might just put spreaders where tabs need to go for my lap belts. Thanks for the input.

Did you leave so much clearance between the bars and transmission because you know it will move a lot or just being safe? I ask because I only left 1/4" clearance on mine and hope it will be enough

Sortof. I had originally measured for the "tunnel" to arc over top of the T-case, right behind the front yoke, but decided to move it farther forward after I made the crossmembers so I'd sit up higher. My transfer case also rotates a good deal under load due to the design of the mount, so I was trying to be safe as well. I'm going to use the tunnel as a center console/arm rest too. So, it works out well that its higher up.

I did this, not sure exactly how much but it's really close. My trans is hard mounted and I didn't notice any problems with it over the weekend at Rausch.
