This is what I was telling him to do last night too. It will be easiest to keep an in tank pump/sending unit vs running an inline pump. By the time you by the Al, the AN bulkhead fittings, and pay someone to weld it (even for cheap from Sam or I), you will be way over the cost of one from LMC. Also, making something water proof with 5 feet of tig welds is kind of a pain.FJCcrawler wrote: ↑Wed Oct 11, 2017 9:20 pm What I was gonna do to the 4Runner is ditch the factory crumpled beer can tank and run an f150 gas tank where the spare tire was. It's about a 19 gal tank, but still relatively shallow height wise. Something to think about.

WJ's have a 21 gallon tank that goes under the back, Mopar sending unit and pump, would probably interface better with your Dodge. No idea, but could get lucky to the point where the harness connections would be the same.

Re: The Glorified Tonka Truck
The only problem with the f150 tank is its just a little too small for what I want. If anything I would like to get a bigger tank since I can barely get home on one tank of gas. From everything I have found a good sized tank over 20 gallons is at least $200. I think for that price I could build a pretty nice one. I'm not afraid of a little welding.
Can conquer anything in my path with my yellow turd. My truck doesn't burn oil it burns transfer cases at mile marker 187. My truck doesn't get dented it simply molds to it environment becoming faster and more agile. Patches is made from fence posts that were used to keep in the monsters from hell. Patches doesn't have horsepower, it has god power. Patches doesn't drive over rocks, it forces them beneath it because it is superior.

Bronco tank (32 gal) fits in same spot as 18 gal truck tanks.

Sweet! That's a great price too! I'm assuming I wont be able to use my stock fuel pump though but a new one cant be that hard to wire/ plum. Does your bronco have a fuel filter? My truck didn't have an external one, just one inside the pump so I had to replace the whole thing when it was clogged. A real fuel filter would be nice!BadAssEddie wrote: ↑Wed Oct 18, 2017 8:01 am Bronco tank (32 gal) fits in same spot as 18 gal truck tanks.

Bronco fuel pump is ~50 bucks on rock auto, not a bad price at all.

This is the inline filter: https://www.cjponyparts.com/ford-fuel-f ... gJH6fD_BwE
You can get AN fittings for it to splice into your existing fuel line, run all new AN line to your fuel rail, splice Ford line in there, or just use fuel line and hose clamps.

Re: The Glorified Tonka Truck
As many of you may know, patches has begun to start rolling coal, and not the fun coal but the blue coal. I know my valve seals are shot but I'm sure my cylinder rings are worn out too. Either way its time for engine build. I have picked up a running engine with 180,000 miles for 250 bucks that will be my power plant. I threw around the idea of throwing a turbo on it along with upgraded crank, rods, and pistons, but that would be a lot of work and would end up costing more than I could really justify spending. I've done my research and I think I am going to go in the direction of building a low end power stroker. We have talked in the past about what direction I should go in terms of engine building and a few of you said to try to stay away from increasing stroke because it would cause more wear than Id want for a penis that I drive every day. I have debated it and Patches is quickly becoming more and more of my weekend toy so I say F it, UNLIMITED POWER!!!!
The thing is, is that for a stroker crank it is only a $30 difference in the cast steel crank and will give me around 60 more foot pounds of torque on the lower end. For rods I was going to get forged steel and aluminum hypereutetic aluminum pistons. All this new will cost around 900 bucks and should give me a considerable power gain. All these parts are good for at least 500 horses. (63,775.5 cat power)
The thing is, the problem with the 360 is that the cylinder heads blow, not only do they not allow much airflow, they only will allow for .500 of tappet lift. With after market heads I can go with more lift and would have better flow, but these heads are 1300 bucks for the pair. Im thinking I'm just going to stick with the stock heads and port them out the best I can and go with a .480 lift cam. It'll be an improvement over stock and ill just get one with more duration and the same degree lobe separation. All said and done it'll be around 1200 for around 400 hp/ 475 ft. Engine masters makes tons of videos with 360s so this is where im getting all these estimates from.
