I think the key problem here is that a stock 700R4 wasn't made to spin 7,000+ RPMs. :flipoff2:

according to the guys at Fix-It.
"that's a common problem for earlier 700R4's. just a little heat and *pop* slides it right out. they improved the design of it in later years but even they will do it if you get it overheated..." that was followed by a "bring it to me and i'l fix it for you..." and then the always plesant "...probably run you about $57..." . man did he get mad when dad asked him how he was going to do it.... lol but the $57 was if he had to pull the tranny out himself so it should be pretty cheap fix...

So the seal retainer won't do it?

the seals not the problem. the bushing behind the seal moved foward and opend up the seal. have to secure the bushing.

There was a hint of sarcasm in that figure. I use the brown stuff that almost look like saw dust. It's pricey, but damn it soaks up shit good.

yeah, i figured that, changed it :thumby: interesting side note, by the time i had loaded it and unloaded it enough to get it home, there was only about 3 Qt's of fluid in the tranny......

Wow, that much? I don't see how. Half was on the bridge, road, and parking lot. The other half was on my hauler.

It was worth it though. You and Grubb looked so cute as "damsal's in distress"
