Bumpers

So, I'm thinking about bumpers for my bronco. I was thinking of using 1/4" c channel. Maybe 4" height for the rear with an angle at the ends. Maybe 4",6", or even 8" across the front just a little wider than the frame rails and tapered at the ends to match the lines of that groovy chrome grill. I want to incorporate a 2" receiver into both. How would I go about reinforcing the receiver tube and mounts to the frame so that I could have a recovery point and maybe even add a winch someday? Any thoughts?

I always cut a notch to flush mount the receiver so the thing doesnt stick way out of the bumper and cause bruises on shins. This leaves the length of the receiver sticking out the back (inside, towards vehicle) of the bumper. I would cut two 45 degree gussets out of 1/4" (or in your case scrap from the c-channel) and weld one on each top corner of the receiver tube to the back of the c-channel.

Like so.

Also, cutting notches and halfway through the face of the channel will allow some easy bends.
