well, after months of parts gathering and such, i've finally got my 3" lift under the jeep this week..... still gotta do shocks, brake hoses, bump stops, and my new main leaf w/ poly bushings, but i'm on 31's finally!

that will be all.....

moving on up

had some time yesterday and this morning at home with nothing really to do so decided to work on the jeep. I finally got new rear packs built but wound up with about an inch more lift than I wanted so its a little high in the rear, hoping it'll settle a little bit. I also picked up some longer shocks for the rear of it while I was working there.

interesting fact: I was going to buy rancho's (I know I know, but I'm broke) and had the local AAP back in W-ville order me the 3" lift shocks from them. THEY ARE 1/2" SHORTER THAN THE ORIGINAL REPLACEMENT SHOCKS!!!!! now, that pissed me off. for now I'm riding some yellow crappers till I can find a rancho part# that matches the crappers I found that were long enough.

if u are looking for cheap shocks, i got skyjackers, they ride pretty nice

On the subject of shocks --

I've got to run 6 inches of lift instead of 4. The Iroks overwhelm my suspension completely. Even with all the trimming I'm still burying the wheels into the inner fenders at mid-flex. I ordered Tuff Country 6 inch springs for th front and two inch for the rear (currently stock with a 4 inch shackle flip and zero rate add-a-leaf). So, I'll need new shocks.

Recommendations? I know nothing about shocks.

for what you're doing, I'd get bilstien's for it. I can't afford them right now or I'd be getting them.

I'll look into it man, thanks! I think i'm going to get the Doecth Tech 9000 series. I can get them for about $50 each and they are nitrogen charged shocks. They also have a nice listing of the lenghts on their web page!

Here's some shots of some stuff I've done to the Jeep in the last 6 months or so.

I trimmed the air dam off the front bumper and cleaned up the license plate holder a little bit.


My new Bastard Packs. They are made with longer (long bed) S-10 leaves under a Cherokee main with poly bushings installed. The front of the 2nd leaf is under the main eye and the rear of it is much closer to the shackle eye than the old set. Hope these last longer.




I had stretched the YJ lines I had on it, so I decided to use some C-1500 lines like I had seen elsewhere. I had to make a bracket for the frame end and wrapped it in PV tubing to keep the shocks from rubbing them.




Also, I'm carrying my spare tire laying flat in the cargo area. I was a little leery of the stock tie-downs that are riveted to the floor without any extra support. I bought these at Tractor Supply for $1.29 ea. Rated at 1200LBS.



Drilled the old ones out and then drilled the extra hole in the floor to mount these.





Also while there, I was wanting to move my High-Lift inside off the roof rack. Matt came up with this idea.



I think looks pretty good back there. I feel a little better about having my little girl strapped in back there now that the spare isn't going to rip lose if something should happen.

Got my CB installed. Still have to finish the wiring in the front and get a hole saw to put the cable through the rear gate.

Thanks, I left that piece ontop of the Jeep and opened the lid and broke it so I'll be replacing it soon. When I do, I'm going to do a nicer cut in it so it'll look better.

I'd wager that your problem is that you have the antenna mounted below the roof and off center. The antenna uses the vehicle as a ground plane. Variations in positioning will change the impedance and thus the VSWR.

Put it on the center of the roof and see what happens.
