05 soft top for a 00

I have a co-worker with a brand new in the box soft top w/ frame for a 05' wrangler. I was just wondering if the top could be used for my 00. I was told that the frame would not adapt but could I transfer my old frame onto the new top and use it? Sorry this is kinda lame tech.
