wheel stud

I had to replace a wheel stud on the bronco. I removed the old stud and put the new one back in. I've always tightened the lug nut and pulled the stud through the back of the of the axle shaft. When I did this there was still about 1/32 gap between the lip of the stud and the axle shaft. Is this a problem? Any suggestions on alternative methods?

I always try to drive/press them in. Pulling them in can stretch the stud. It will prolly be ok. The lip should be against the axle if its not it could pull in later resulting in a loose lug nut. I would keep on eye on it.

we stack washers up behind the nut to pull in so it gets it all the way in
