I'm looking at CB's for the XJ and I'm torn between one with the NOAA weather channels for $60-109 (same model at different stores) or one without it for $40..... Does anyone think the weather channels are worth the $$?

I use the NOAA weather radio all the time down at the coast. their storm tracking is extremely accurate and will keep you out of trouble on the water.

however, I don't really use it inland and I don't know if NOAA does as good a job in areas like this where sudden weather doesn't carry as severe risk. not many tornados in blacksburg....

If you can get one with the weather bands for $60 I would get it. I wouldn't pay $109 for it though. Their forecasting is pretty good inland as well, and while we don't have hurricanes or tornadoes up here, impending snow storms, thunderstorms, etc are nice to be able to know about.

Which one did you get and where did you order it from? I'm looking for a new cb for the suburban.

I had a $40-$50 cobra from radio shack in the '96. They always have them in stock. It was compact and had the weather band.
