Finding Axles

Is there a place (website) I can go to find out what axles are on which trucks. I found a 78 f-150 with a 9 inch rear, but the guy is not sure what front axle is on it. All he knows is it has a big V8, C6 tranny, and a 9 inch rear. He will sell it to me for parts, but I want to make sure it has the high pinion 44 on the front. The axles are going to go on my CJ project.
Anyone out there help me on this?

That truck should have the dana 44 hi pinion front axle, assuming it is a 4 wheel drive truck.

It could have something else swapped in. A HP 60, while maybe not what you're looking for, is very very valuable.

The CJ is passenger drop, the Ford axles are driver drop. Not insuperable, but something else to consider.

yeah factory on that truck should be a HP44

It is a sweet deal. I am getting the whole truck for $300. It has a 9 inch rear, a c6 tranny (and i think he was throwing in another c6), and what ever front axle comes on it and he doesn't know what tranfer case is on it.
So if anyone is looking for a c6, let me know.
