Which cases were used for full-time apps in the late 70s? Laura has a '78 3/4 ton whose t-case has a habit of jamming itself in neutral, and I need to know what swap candidates are available. I believe the transmission is a 700R4, if that's any help. Thanks.

New Process 203. Look for a New Process 205 for same transmission.

Will a 205 require driveshaft change or will it bolt right in?

Not going to be a 700R4, thats for sure, a few years too early for that. Most likely a TH400.....
Adjust the shift linkage?

I'll definitely try adjusting the linkage before pulling the case. Would a TH400 be behind a 350 from the factory? AFAIK the entire drive-train in this truck is original. Just curious...

Its a TH350/NP203 combo is its 70's small block. Maybe a TH400, but they were usually behind BB's and in ton trucks.

Most likely the th350/np203 combo.. I have a 203 that mates to a th350.. It's in my for sale post. It lacks one detent ball that I stole for a spacer for the valve in my hydro pump for my bender. You can scrounge one from the current case to make it 'complete'.
