NOPSTRS

I am beside myself with joy and all is again right with the world. Finally, I own another Taco. This truck is my newest baby and almost completely identical to the original Taco. *moment of silence..... r.i.p.*
Specs:
1998 Toyota Tacoma 4x4
3.4L V6, 5 speed
extended cab, camper shell
32" at's on stock alloys
3" daystar spacers
helper springs and block in the rear
278,000 miles and totally solid mechanically
good lookin' body damage.... giggidy
First things first the suspension gets a do over. The front rancho 5000's, stock coils, and daystar spacers are for sale. The rear ranchos will probably go too.
Next it gets a tune up, a good once over, and a good cleaning. From here on out it's a dd, hunting rig, parts go getter, recovery rig, and very light duty trail cruising. Hopefully the wear off the Dodge and the better fuel mileage will speed up the hardcore project.
Pics are as it was received after driving it back from GA. Mad props to my boy McNinney for the ride to GA.

Sweet man! I think I may be the only person still in the club that remembers the original taco.
Mind if I ask how much you gave for it? My dad's looking for a similar vintage rig for a weekend beater/home improvement truck.

Went down expecting to pay $3800. I left with it for $3600 due to the crack in the windshield I didn't know about..
These things hold retarded value. Once I decided I was buying this I did a last ditch search to see what else I could find for $3800. I was still finding '97's with 300,000 miles for $7,000. If you search under $5000 you're still limited to regular cabs, 2wd's, some ext cab high mileage 4 cyl's, and a rare ext cab V6. My key was to find one with a reduced price due to cosmetic damage and miles. I've been searching on and off for 2 to 3 years.. High miles doesn't scare me at all, I'll debate these 3.4L's are the best designed and mass manufactured engine ever put in a passenger vehicle. Soon as it blows up I'll put one in with 150,000 on the clock and keep gettin' it. It still runs just as tight and pulls just as hard as my old truck and all other 6's I've driven.
Just for nostalgia...

Very nice, like the wrinkles. They add character.
I do like the cap. Should work well for what you want the truck for.
I looked at your filebox and found the Beck's Buggy file. Funny:
See the white S10 with the exo cage? That is my brother's. 4 guys standing in front (from the LH fender)- me, some random dude, my brother, my nephew (that is his ATV).
My brother spotting. Later we had Beck wedged really tight in a deep crack. Good times.[/img]

Damn! Haven't seen those pics in a while!
Anyone know what Beck is up to these days? And what ever happened to the buggy?

Last I heard, he recently left ORD again to work for some carbon fiber production firm in/near Carbondale, CO. The buggy was retired a few years ago and cut up as I understand it. He kept the drivetrain to swap into a 90's 4Runner that he had started IIRC.
I had a great time the few times we wheeled together.

Ok Benny, I've been trying, but I can't figure out the new liscense late.

I can't even come up with something dumb that has those letters.

First it's NOPSTRS..
Just missing vowels...
Second, it is referencing the first Taco and its untimely passing.
Third, it's an inside joke, so no one will ever get it unless they know the story.. I can't wait to have people go "why does your license plate say 'no posters'" lol.

So, what does this do to the already lengthy timeline on the other yota?
