I took a good look at the trailer and noticed a few things. It looks to be mobile home axles under it. I dont know a lot about them but have heard it can be hard to find wheels to fit the axle. Its possible the trailer could be a piece of a mobile home cut down into a trailer. I dont know just something to think about.

Its got wheels now...why would you need to find more? I think it looks pretty stout, mobile home or not. And a good price!

Don't be afraid of the axles.

First of all, those types of axles can be designed as heavy duty trailer axles. Not all of them are for mobile home use. My trailer originally came with 3 6,000 lb. "utility" axles like those that were not mobile home axles. Many older equipment trailers used them, and according to this quote from the ad:
equipment trailer by a reputable independence va trailer builder
it is a trailer made by a local manufacturer. The original owner may have ordered the trailer with those axles because he already had spares for it. The trailer should have a real VIN (not homemade) and a manufacturers plate to identify it as being built by the builder in Independence. It does not look like a cut down mobile home at all to me.

Second of all, Billavista did an excellent (as usual) article on using mobile home axles for recreational trailers and found that you can indeed service and replace the bearings and that they are not all that weak as many think. See the article here:

Well Leach, if you wanna check it out, feel free. If I hear from the guy I'll let you know.

We've already got a trailer, was just trying to find something a bit beefier.
