so how much do the good tires cost??

I put MTZs on par with all the other radial mud terrains. Truxus, MTRs, BFGs, etc.

Interco would also be 20%.

the mtz might be on par with other radial MTs ... but you forgot that radial MTS are the bottom of the shit list

Some of us like to have vehicles that we can drive on the road too. IMO it's more of a challenge to build a vehicle that's street worthy and capable off road.

I wouldn't pass up a set of LTBs. For the money...

MTZs suck. Had em, didnt like em. very weak sidewalls.

yea lots of people enjoy that. i have driven on plenty of different tires out there, and plenty of them are fine on the road. If you want a real street driven rig get some mtr's.

any tire can be used to drive on the road, but if your trying to find a tire that looks like it performs and can be driven on the street get the mtzs cause they will fail offroad. if you want a real tire with a real sidewall, get an mtr. they put swampers to shame in sidewall strength.

Personally, I think Dunlops have the crappiest sidewalls.

yes they are. you over cut a sidewall? You ever tried to mount one of those damn tires on a wheel? Unless your talking out of your ass and have never seen one and have the typical its a street tire cant be tough mentality, or perhaps the tire size you have delt with is uner 30in diameter? Best all around tire ever.

I'm gonna have to call B.S. on the MTR having a tougher sidewall than a TSL, SX, Bogger, etc. They can use all the Durawall technology (which BTW is only a different rubber compound, has nothing to do with sidewall construction) they want but they still can't get around the fact that its a Radial tire. When you cut the sidewall you're done. With a Bias ply tire the alternating direction of the cords keeps the integrity of the tire and will often keep the tire inflated with all but the worst sidewall punctures. I have gashes in my TSL's that go almost all the way though the side wall and only one has a slight leak where there's a pinhole in the bottom of the gash. It has been like this for almost a year and I have put hundreds of off road miles on it since then. Show me any MTR that can do that.

Lastly, how hard a tire is to mount has very little to do with sidewall strength. It is a function of bead construction and design, and rim design. I have mounted some really shitty quality trailer tires that were hard to mount, and some big rear tractor tires that were easier to mount, tell me which has the stronger sidewall.

The only two tires I've ever busted a sidewall on are a
BFG AT and Dunlop. The Dunlop sidewall bit it on dirt. No rocks, sticks, stumps or anything.

MTRs are decent for a radial but... they're still a radial. You are correct, they are decent all around tires. Best....don't know about that. Personally, I consider all the decent radial mud terrains about equal. BFG, MTR, MTZ etc.
