see if you can make sense of this pattern

Didn't realize that the [pre-opened] install kit I had didn't have gear marking compound in it, couldn't find it anywhere, but asked at Blacksburg Auto Parts and the dood just gave me his own. This crap is alot more "vasaleeny" than what I recall my last stuff being (seemed dryer). Anyways see if you can make sense of this; from what I can tell its close to good or the pinion is possibly too close.

Pattern charts: page 14 to 16:

and BL is .007", Pinion is 15 in-lbs, lateral run-out is .0025" (barely within spec)

Thanks if you can help.

Looks like to me the pinion needs to come out slightly and the carrier should go to the side a bit more (not sure which side). The pattern is a little bit too deep in the ring gear. It is hard to tell from the pic, but there should be some gap between the contact patch and the bottom of the ring gear teeth. If it is for a front axle, I'd probably run it as it sits...

Edit: looking again, you really should at least adjust the pinion depth.

yea if it was front, I would definitely run it. But its the rear, and the 3rd is nice and easy to shim so I'll definitely take the pinion out a bit. I did set the backlash tight on purpose though.
