How and what should I use to balance my tires. They are 38" bias ply super swampers on 15" steel rims. I would like to hear what people have done and how it has worked.

You rode in my Jeep yesterday with bead balanced tires. They are radials though.

16oz airsoft BB's per tire. (using regular copper clad bb's will leave you a mess of shit inside the tires if/when you remove the tires, and will chip the paint/powder coat on the inside of the rim).

werx'ded 4 meee.

get pre measured equal balancing bags from tire dealer only like $4 a bag (1 per tire) ..... comes with valve cores to keep it out of gauge when checking air at later times

From what I have found the harder a tire is to balance the less of a chance you will have to balance it internally. I tried different amounts of weight increasing a little at a time and it did not get any better if anything it got worse. I finally gave up and just live with it. Also the lighter your truck is the more harsh the effects. Not saying dont try it but thats what I found. Thats with 36"SX's which are probably some of the worst tires to balance.

Dave:

I've tried balance bags (it was little pellets about 8 oz on a q78 35") The little stem they give you for the valve clogs up if you try to air down) The ride was ok i guess.

I am currently using traditional fixed weights on the rim. I got the life time balance and rotate at sears, it seems a little better and I can get it balanced regularly.

SS don't seem to balance well to me.
