I havent killed any! and you spelled my last name right. I am impressed Mr. Peter.

But naw its not hard to kill one. Anything above a 90 hp tune will do it in.

Did he actually kill it or did he limp it?

x2 Ary.....i just assumed they would be able to handle themselves a little better

Think he actually killed it this time, what its been doing is if he romps on it when its in 5th gear it downshifts real hard and locks itself in 4th until he clears the code. The other day it did it and now it wont shift up into 5th at all and its starting to do the limp mode and keep him in 3rd now instead of 4th.

Says he is looking into bd diesel transmissions and kennedy diesel transmissions, maybe some other options too. Should be pretty sweet now we wont have to baby it to keep the tranny from throwing a hissy fit.

stay far away as possible from the BD. They arent worth a shit. Kennedy sells the suncoast transmissions. That is what I have in mine and my brother has in his. You cant go wrong with a suncoast.

Romping on in it in 5th gear was the mistake that will kill any allison with any sort of tune.

As far as it being more stout. Lets just use the edge 90 as an example. Ok so the transmission can hold 390 hp but it the torque you are forgetting about. It is holding about 650 ft/lbs if not more STOCK. I am just assuming you have an LB7. IF you have an LBZ they will hold a lil more power since they did come with more from the factory.

thanks for the transmission advice ill let him know that.

and he was waiting for the day it quit on him, he was sort of intentionally goosin it trying to kill the tranny so his company would buy him a new one :lol2:

oh yea and his dyno numbers are pushing 600 hp and 800 ftlbs at the rear wheels.........

edit: 980 ftlbs was the dyno number

he ordered a soatcoast today before i even told him about bd not being worth shit

What kind of tuning does he have? Stock Turbo?

There is no way possinle he is pushing 600hp at the rear wheels with a stock turbo and tuning only.

You can do 540 TOPS.

The dyno operator did not know what he was doing then.

easy killer....its not a stock turbo

pretty sure he is running around 50 psi of boost out of the new turbo
he has multiple fuel mods (extra fuel pump, something with the fuel regulator, something with the fuel rails, think the only thing he hasn't touched yet are the injectors? could be wrong)
two chips (edge with the 6 levels and then a superchip)
oh and then your typical bling bling intake and exhaust

obviously im not an expert on his truck i dont work on it and i really have no experience with a diesel motor to offer advice but that should be the jist of whatever work hes had done

I still dont see it doing that kinda of power with and Edge and superchip programer. But if you say so :confused2:

If he really wants to make power tell him to ditch those and get EFI live.

He does not need to get injectors guy are running up to 900hp on the stock sticks.

My neighbor pays big bucks to get dyno time for his Cummins at home...what's your rate to just tell him what he needs to know? Kidding, you seem to know plenty more than I do about diesel tuning, but jumping straight to "the dyno operator doesn't know what he's doing" seems a little premature...

As to the Allison, the guy that works on my boat at home killed his in a dually while still under warranty and they wouldn't warranty it because they said he was obviously using the truck to tow heavy loads...who'd of thunk that you would tow heavy loads with a diesel dually? :confused2:

I only charge about 60 bucks an hour.

Yes did I jump to the conclusion that they dyno operator did not know what he was doing yes. But I have read and seen where many dyno operators who have only done a few or no diesel at all before try to do them and they get false readings.

Also doing the dyno pull in 5th gear will give you a false reading it needs to be done in 4th gear which is 1.00 gear ratio to get an accurate reading.

As far as your friends warranty issue, GM is an ass when it comes to warranty repairs they try to work their way out of it any way possible.

Also I am not saying the Allison is a bullet proof transmission by any means. My dad had one behind is 8.1 Big block truck and he went through 2 of them. Also my bro had one behind his big block truck too and he went through 3. If you are a car and truck enthusiast anything like I am you know you can always get a bad apple in the bunch and that is all you are going to hear about. People dont normally complain that there is car is operating correctly now do they? :lol2:
