Time to do some repairs and mods before the wheeling season gets into full swing.

On the list:

Repair damage from the fall RC outing
- Replace front housing
- Replace rear diff
- Replace gas tank
Build cage(half inside, half out)
Install suspension seats
Redo dash after destroying it with the cage
Install hydro assist

Deadline is Icebreakers @ Big Dogs. We'll see if I make it.

Started mocking up the seats yesterday. Then I got to thinking about cutting out the B-pillar. Now I'm thinking about cutting the roof off and just skinning the cage to act as a roof... Prolly should just mount the seats :goofy:

I'm trying to get Peter to meet me halfway this weekend.

Tell him to stop fucking around and get his truck fixed :flipoff2:

Oh, anyone got a spare Toy front housing laying around? Just need the bare housing, ball to ball, have the rest.

So what ur telling be is that you want to borrow my housing???? I have seen the way u drive, once that thing goes under ur truck I want a new one. :flipoff2: So if you can return another housing that is still straight, then you are welcome to it.

Directions to housing.

Go to my parents house. Walk around back, (watch out for dogs). Go the lower side of the garage out back, there will be a 57 chevy truck with a cap on the back. Lift the cap open and the housing is in there. Don't steal any of my old bald tires I am collecting :goofy:

Progress.

Finally got the garage cleaned out and organized enough to put the truck in.

Promptly tore the front axle out and will strip and reassemble with Stinson's spare housing tomorrow hopefully.

Thanks Stinson. Your dad is really nice btw, but he thought my name was Arby. LOL

Took the day off of work to get some stuff done on the truck.

First I got to work on the front axle. I've been working on the truss in the evenings all week but hadn't made much progress. One of my goals for this was to have the truss bridge from knuckle to knuckle, and not leave a gap at the leaves like the old axle. In order to do this it has to be removable so that the leafs springs can come out.

With that in mind I made a pair of little towers to catch either end of the truss. Then joined those together with a piece of 1" .120 wall DOM. This will get plated in to the axle and have a bolted connection where the tube meets the plate.

You can also see that I relocated my shock mounts from the top of the axle to the back. I'm hoping to gain a couple inches of uptravel by redoing the shock mounts and bumpstops.

After I got all that stuff tacked together I moved on to altering the sliders. I had previously recessed the legs for my sliders into the rocker panels but this pushed the sliders way out. I thought this would be good, but they ended up hanging me up more than helping. So, I cut them off

Well, kinda, I cut off the outer rail and tucked in a new rail very tight to the inner rail.
