New guy here!

Hey everybody! I'm a sophmore at VT and a somewhat green off roader. I own a 2007 Tacoma and am definitely looking for people and places to Wheel around here (public property or permission on private). I hate the people that trespass on out land in WVA so I don't want to contribute to the bad reputation those kind of people give to the community. I will be looking for a welder fairly soon to put some rock sliders on :)
Here is my sob story:
I was honestly ready to give up trying to find trails. As one last effort I joined some jeep forums and eventually indirectly stumbled upon this forum. Looks like there is tons of great info and I am looking forward to joining the group and attending meetings

I've been browsing the site since last night so I am somewhat familiar now. My Taco is pretty much all stock. The only real meaningful upgrades at this point is the TSB AAL in the rear. Its the 2.7 I4 engine in 4x4. I absolutely love it and have the first phase of my lift coming in for my birthday in may.

Welcome to the club/forum man, there is tons of toyota knowledge between our members, you should try to make it out to the meeting and meet some of us

no i cant ... TIG is improper terminology .. as is MIG ...
and the reason being: MIG stands for Metal Inert Gas ... the problem is that CO2 and CO2 mixtures are not inert ... they can and do react witht he weld under normal welding conditions ... so the term MIG was officially dropped and changed to GMAW (Gas Metal Arc Welding). Then, of course, in order to keep some similance of unity across the processes, the powers that be decided to officially change the names of most major processes to a unified form ... that form being:
GMAW - Gas Metal Arc Welding (formerly MIG)
SMAW - Shielded Metal Arc Welding (formerly Manual Metal Arc Welding or MMAW)
GTAW - Gas Tungsten Arc Welding (formerly Heli-Arc ... as the first shielding gas to be used was helium)
FCAW - Flux Cored Arc Welding
SAW - Submerged Arc Welding
etc etc ...
so no, i usually dont refer to it as TIG ... it give me nightmares

Thats awesome! How much would you want to do it? I might have them shipp them to my house to the prichard mail room people don't hate me for a 90 lb. package

Sorry I am used to being on the toyota forum haha. Toyota decided for the 2005 models that it would underdesign the rear leaf spring system i guess to give soccer moms a softer ride. This was not good news to the people who wanted the truck to be a truck. So they offer a Technical Service Bulliten (TSB) to fix it for free. Basically it would be a recall if it was a saftey issue. So the dealership took my truck and slapped new shock and an Add a leaf (AAL) into the rear.

depends on the time involved ... i charge enough to cover my materials and some of my time ... but i dont rape people on costs ...
generally about $20-30 an hour depending on what is involved.
