Got My New Whip!

Picked up the Jimmy today. It was a PITA! the rear was locked up and the steering wheel was locked cuz i didnt have the right keys. So, I ended up just dragging/winching the truck up on the dolley and into my driveway. I have to go get the keys tomorrow and the title signed over to me.

The good: Diesel, 3 good 33" tires with a so-so fourth, runs, FREE, its in one piece and in decent shape esp for the price.

The bad: shot rear, broken backglass, dented rear panel, leaky tranny, stripped front hub, no batteries, and dirty.

Its gonna be alot of work but I'm super excited to get it working and up in Bburg.

I'll take some pics tom and post them up.

so, ive pretty much figured out everything thats wrong with the truck and the bare minimum that i need to do to get it drivable.

The torque converter seal leaks

I need two batteries (the plan is two red tops, but im just gonna get what i can find for now).

new rear (the ring gear is trashed, it has a posi in it which would be pretty cool. But the plan is to put a 14 bolt in the rear soon, so im just going to get a junkyard replacement 10 bolt)

the fuel line has a leak in it somewhere cuz the engine will run then cut off and after mad cranking it will fire up and run fine.

After I get this truck driveable, I have some pretty cool plans for it to make it a baller ass tow rig for my Bronco: Im going to put a 14 bolt in the rear with an 8 lug conversion on the front or throw a Dana 44 with an 8 lug conversion in it (I havent totally figured out the logistics on that one yet). Im going to put a cool tac, tranny temp guage, and big tranny intercooler with a dash controlled fan. Along with the quasi 1 -ton axles im going to put beefier springs to prevent the ass from sagging when im towing the bronco. I'll do this by 1 ton, 3/4ton or add-a-leaf packages (all depending on what costs less and is easier/better blah blah). I want to put a nice system with subs tweaters and amp in there cuz its all wired up from the previous owner.

Along with the upgrades i want to thoroughly go over the truck and replace any junk parts so i dont have the same prob i did w/ the Bronco over the last 2 months when i have the truck for a year :lol2:

I dont have the money to get it driving by the end of the week and its killing me, so im going to just save up and get it up to Bburg next semester.

Sounds like a good plan. Plenty of time over winter break.

I've got a cucv for sale. You could just swap the drive line from the CUCV to the Jimmy. :thumby:  :brow:

For the Batt's, just go to Wal-mart and get the MAXX gold's or whatever they're called. They get rave reviews and they're only $75 each. And it's hard to beat wal-mart for anywhere in the usa warranty.

I just put a pair in my Dmax a couple months ago and they really brought my starter to life(AC Delco batteries SUCK).

Want a free battery? Little corrosion but still holds a charge just fine.
