I heard that dana 60 35 spline shafts will fit in a 35 spline 9 inch carrier. Does anyone know if this is right or not?

ARB's site just confirmed that they are both 35 spline 1.5 inch diameter. So wouldn't it be as easy as welding dana 60 spindles onto a 9 inch at factory 60 width and then just use the dana 60 hubs and shafts?

Yup. You could even work out the width so that it uses equal lengths left to right so you could carry 1 shaft as a spare.
I think a 9 inch with ballistics Al 14 bolt hubs would be sweet, my plan for whatever buggy I build

What is the general.consensus on Dana 60 35 splinr strength?

Strong enough for the majority of competitors. With the exception of those who have stepped up to 37 or 40 spline or run different pressure angle diffs, most guys run 35 spline 9's

Tell me again the point of that? Just for a little bit of ground clearance? Spend the money on front 60/decent shafts, and throw a 14 bolt with a $300 detroit out back and don't have to worry about it breaking. With the front 60 you can just run bigger tires for better ground clearance and climbing ability.

He's got a front 60 already. I think its a great idea. It might not be as cost effective as a 14 bolt but it will be way lighter, more gearing options, much better ground clearance, and a removable third. If hes more concerned with the above benefits than the added cost, then its the ticket.

He's also already got a geared 9inch so essentially all james would need to do is weld on the hubs to his housing and change the locker to 35 spline.

Yes, I am a fan of all of these things and I hate how much of a pig 14 bolts are

I sold the 9 inch but I am going to go to lower gears anyways so it is more cost effective to just find a used third that someone put the right gears and locker in already

And a baller after market housing would be sweet.

That too lol. It would probably be best to just put the money I would spend towards a 9 inch into a aftermarket housing
