My 14 bolt tubes are trashed so I'm looking for a new housing or complete axle if its cheap (i.e. 100 bucks) ASAP

Would also consider a Dana70U

I will soon be taking the 14 bolt out of my 97. You can have it for BO but it likely has gear damage due to the gov lock exploded. There are differences in the 73-91ish 14 bolts from the 91ish and up (spring pad location, more webbing in the housing, width) but don't remember all of them off the top of my head. Might want to research it or continue your search.

Benny has a 70 or 80 from a Dodge Cummins for sale.

Gear damage is not the biggest issue, I was planning on re-gearing the one I had anyway. Thanks for posting up I'll check into the differences and let you know. Do your drums slide off the wheel studs?

link to dana 70?

No the drums do not slide off. I have not found a 14 bolt ff that does, but have heard of the mysterious version lol.

Word. I almost punched my computer earlier today trying to figure out these sliding drum 14 bolts and whether my hubs would work. But then again yours is a SRW right?

When you figure out when ya might be pulling it and how much ya want for it let me know. Thanks man.

Yes, it is a SRW. I really have no idea how that matches up to a 73-87 SRW though but would guess they are about the same. Have you read Billavista's 14 bolt bible? Lots of stuff in there.

Yea but it only address's the difference in the bottom of the diff and something about one of the bearings. I found a few articles on the sliding drum 14bolts having different spindle/hub's with inner - outer wheel bearing spacing different than the 73-87's. I was thinking it would matter because I read that the back of the 2nd gen hubs aren't machined flat for disk brakes. But then I see that gubni sells disk brake kits for 2nd gen sliding hub 14 bolts. Then I gave up.

No real rush I guess. Now that my bender showed up I can spend the next month trying my hand at tubework.

Lol yeah I remember now having a similar frustrating search a while ago. I would say if it going into a wheeler and to be shaved/lightened/sharing parts with current axle, look for a 73-87 version. If it is for a DD/tow rig, come take a look when you want. I will ask around for you also.
