Time for another rig...southern style

You all are familiar with the little red yj. Well my buddy who owns it has decided he no longer has any use for it so he passed off to me for the right price.

I've decided to pull together some parts I've had laying around here at the barn for a while and put together a lower, longer, louder rig more suitable to some of the stuff we see down in Harlan and such.

This will likely put my black jeep on hold for a bit since it should be a faster/cheaper project to get through and I'm taking my time on mine to do it right. I might rob some of my parts to make the build move a little quicker.

Plan:
120"-125" Wheelbase
454 Vortec
NV4500
NP205
front/rear steer planetaries
4 link f/r with emulsion coilovers
Not sure on tires, hunting something bigger than a 42

Due to the gearing in the planetaries, I will be able to run the t-case in high range most of the time and still maintain decent wheel speed in higher gears.

I'm going to rob some of my driveline parts from the engine/trans donor. Its a 3500HD and is running like 1480 joints which should be stout enough for such a beast of a rig as the little red riding jeep.

Completion Date: October Harlan trip.

Nice build, but tell me why you will be destroying what seems to be a nice 3500HD?

How about you aim for a Potts run two weeks before Harlan so that when you don't make that deadline you can still avoid finishing the rig in the parking lot :flipoff2:

I'm actually not. This was just a joke because we had some of this stuff laying around and it occurred to me that it was a pretty good parts list for a big tire rig.

The Chevy is actually a 6.5 and sadly no NV4500. The axles are Carraro planetary units from the front of 4wd Case tractors we picked up off Craigslist and flipped to another repair shop.

I did not buy the little red riding jeep either, I've been working tirelessly on mine, trying to finish all the major work before I come back down to school.

AH HA! I knew it. Can't fool this old man.

Spend more time taking pictures of your rig instead of random parts and vehicles sitting around your property.

Are you interested in my progress?

I was hoping I could wrench vicariously through you, since I should be finishing my rig but can't at the moment.

Oh and even if you did build a low riding 119" BBC little red riding jeep, I'd still catch air in your front yard with it. If there's a will there's a way.
