I was just trying to get a head count for this weekend. Please only respond if you are 100% going to the Car Show or Potts. When you respond please tell which event/s that your are going to attend. Thanks

I am 100% going to Potts. I will be at the car show if I can get the tranny cooler on the bronco beforehand. I will be bringing the Bronco with me to Potts if I can get the tranny cooler on.

I don't have a sleeping bag unfortunately. I know this is going to sound really newb but what should I/we bring?

Normally we encourage people to figure out ride situations and such ahead of time but since this trip is kind of up in the air I think whats going to happen is everyone is going to meet up before going, we will make sure we have enough seats to ride out there, and add vehicles if need be. (For example I don't plan to bring my truck but if we need the seats I will)

As far as stuff to bring, pack snacks and such for eating on the trail. I would strongly suggest you get out and grab a sleeping bag today sometime, you will use it in the future and will be miserable without one. Even a crappy one will be lightyears better than nothing.

I'm sure that there will be someone that has a seat.

I will see if I can get out to wal-mart today and pick up a sleeping bag. I have multiple at home. I would hate to buy another...

I understand the sentiment. If you're cool with sleeping with nothing and are prepared for that by all means don't worry about one, I just know it's been real chilly the past few nights and its even worse up there. Having spent a few too many nights without a bag, I wouldnt think you wana be in that boat.

Sleeping bag is mandatory. Being responsible for the club's well-being, I will not allow a new member of unknown wilderness skill to go on a trip without one. Sorry Mike, but you have to either borrow one or buy a new one.

Who all has tents? I've got one that can sleep 3 or 4 here at the moment. People can sleep in vehicles and such as well but we need to start seeing what people have/need

What time is everyone leaving the car show? Where are we meeting after the car show?

Grubb and I are planning on leaving here around 4:30. With stops for supplies that should put us in B-burg around 6:30-7pm. I would PREFER not to set up camp in the dark, so if everyone wants to go earlier, that'd be better and we can leave earlier to meet you guys. Grubb is driving his F150 and I'm trailering since my tranny is unproven. Grubb has an open seat as do I, but I will NOT be going back towards B-burg afterward so if anyone rides with me they'll have to have a seat on the way back Sunday.

As for what to bring, pack enough easy to prepare/already done food.

For the trail: Beenie Weenies, Vienna Sausage, and tuna are old stand bys. Protein requires more water to digest, so the more meat you bring the more water you'll need. Some trailmix, crackers or cheeze-it's are also good to have stashed in a zip-loc baggy. PLENTY of bottled water and gatorade (for the hang over) is a good idea too.

For camp eating: For supper the night before, hot dogs or bratwurst are a good idea. They can be cooked on a stick over the fire easliy and require no grate/grill. Bring just what you will eat, extra just turns into meat water in the cooler. Go to McDonalds ect the day before and get packs of ketchup, mustard, mayo, ect (Arby's has good BBQ sauce packs ) so you don't have a full bottle going bad while you're on the trail or forget to clean out your cooler because it'll be midnight or later before you get back to your apartment/dorm and have that wonderful smell/mess to deal with the next time you decide to go.

Breakfast: We usually bring a box of pop-tarts and a couple bananas. They are quick and don't make a mess. Easy clean up with no silverware involved. Cereal bars, Nutella, instant oatmeal and cereal with a pint or less of milk have also been seen on the trail. Just remember you have to clean up what plates/knives/forks you bring. A quick note, we will be camping in BEAR country, so trash bags and such are a must.

For the camping: A sleeping bag, air mattress or sleeping pad, and a tent if you can't find a spot in someone elses. Trow had the awesome idea of sleeping on a cot in the camper shell of his towing F150. Couple gallons of tap water for wash up purposes and teeth brushing, hand washing, ect. Some GoJo in the squeeze bottle is a nice addition and a little Dawn or something if you bring bowls, ect. Couple large trash bags for trash or spare/broken parts. And BEER! Set your limit before leaving and just bring that amount. I don't want to repeat my experiences at Harlan the last time (though I'm not sure what they were) and I'd hate to be that hung over and trying to drive on the trail the next day in something w/o A/C. Toilet paper or paper towels in a zip-lock baggy. One with the sleeping gear and one in the rig is a good thought. I'm sure I've forgotten something, anyone else have good input here?

Edit: My tent will sleep 3 comfortably, but Grubb already has one spot called. I have 2-3 extra sleeping bags I can bring, just let me know. Not to be a dick, but some random smelly dude sleeping in my bag, if you could toss me a $5 for washing them afterward at the laundromat, that'd be appreciated. That's like 25% or less than the price of a bag, so I don't think that'd be unreasonable. Message me today because I'll be packing tomorrow. I bought a decent tarp to make a tent in the bed of my truck and a sleeping bag and mat. This should be good for one night

EDIT: I am hoping that we will be gone before 6 when you guys are planning on rolling through. We are going to allow a couple hours after the show (ends at noon) for members to get ready and we will meet at Trow Casa to caravan out. I am thinking around 2. Will and I will discuss this today and nail down an exact meeting time and departure time.
