So I took my truck to get inspected this weekend while I was home. Lucky me I had about 3/4" of play side to side when they rocked the tires from side to side  so now I have to leave my truck at home all week while they replace the rack. Should cost me a couple hundred bones . Only now I get to drive the FJ-80 down to school for a week! Would this make anyone else want to whip out the sawzaw and cut that shit out?

sounds like you're getting screwed.. throw some new bushings on that rack and keep gettin it.. it's probably not the rack and pinion that's worn out. if it is you're in the heavy minority.. i'd find another shop. aka "buddy"

haha i know right, its actually a common thing with tacos, it was actually both the rack and the bushings you could tell just by looking at it when they moved the tire that it was worn out, ive actually got a really good mechanic i've used for years, he wouldnt screw me over, but im dying to do a sas, im selling my 4wheeler and buying an old d44 and starting to rebuild it, so maybe within the next year ill get all the parts and will be ready to cut that ifs out
