cylinder misfire in cold weather

My engine light came on recently, and the code was a cylinder 2 misfire. After a few days, it went off. When it first came on, it was pretty cold out, below freezing, and actually, the engine light did the same thing last winter as well. When the engine light was on, there was no noticeable decline in power or mpg. So what I am thinking is that the cylinder may have misfired on startup, and it just took a while for the engine light to shut off. But is there any reason why cold weather would cause a cylinder misfire?
I have a 2004 Jeep Wrangler btw.
