Everyone nominated for an officer position for next year post up a speech about why you want to be an officer and what you plan to do to improve the club next year!

Hi All,

Thank you Sam for nominating me for a VP position with the club. If I may here is a short speech to try to convince you to vote for me so this might not be just a popularity contest.

As you know I am Chris, ME super senior.
I would like your vote for VP.

I have been into the wheeling scene since I got my 1st Jeep in 1996. Yes I am that old, but I am also that experienced. I have been a member of Nova Jeepers, RCPFA, NRV Jeep club and now(for the second time) SC4WDA. I have wheeled many properties including Crozet, The Cove, Rausch Creek, Oak Ridge Estates, Harlan, most of the national forest roads in VA, many private trails in the area too. With all this comes a lot of experience.

I have seen clubs that are run well and clubs that are not. The difference comes down to the leadership and how much they care. I am very passionate about the sport of wheeling and also about keeping trails open for us to use.

I have some ideas for the club that I think will be well received by all.
- Free Beer!! (just kidding)
- More local trail rides. I like that we have at least 1 big trip every semester but I think we need more small ones in-between.
- More tech sessions.
- More informal meet and greet type get togethers
- Trophies!!
- Improved/upgraded tailgates. I'm talking grilled wings cold beer and good music.

I want to be a VP so that I can help this club grow and become well known around Blacksburg and the NRV not just as a wheeling club but a group of off-road enthusiasts who actively work in and around the community to preserve the access we have and maybe even help the forest service open or maintain new trails.
So please vote for me, Collison, for your 2015-2016 VP!!

My name is Ryan Nicholson and i am a business major. When i was a freshman i was a bit of a loner. I had no true friends here at tech but that soon changed when I met the club. They gave me the opportunity to join a awesome wheeling club with great people. I have always been in the offroad scene whether it was pedal to floor in a mud pit lol or finding a trail through the woods. The thing i love about the club is how diverse the rigs are, no matter what vehicle you are in stock, built, or mild everyone gets along and has a good time when wheeling. I feel this is my opportunity to give back to the club as it has helped me get through these last few years.
My plans to improve the club would be to offer:
-restaurant percentage nights (a little extra cash for club events never hurt)
-expand our reach to Radford even more and maybe the surrounding areas
-Possibly organize a truck show with trophies (everyone loves trophies)
and so much more.

It would be an honor to serve as VP in the coming 2016-2017 school year. Thank you all for the memories thus far. UT PROSIM!

Hey guys, I just want to thank those who nominated me for club president. Its been a position I’ve been wanting to take over for a while. I know my speech may be slightly long winded, but it is pertinent that you all read everything in its entirety.
Just an introduction and background about myself, my name is Chris Wong. I am a third year student at Tech studying mechanical and electrical engineering. I have also been in the club for three years now coming up on my fourth. I was born in Southern California and raised in Las Vegas. I’ve wheeled in everything from the deserts and rocks of the West to the snow, mud, and rocks we’re familiar with here. Mojave, Ocotillio Wells, Big Bear, Red Rock Canyons, Canyonlands, Pismo, Death Valley, and The Valley of Fire on the West Coast and Rausch, Harlan, Uwharrie, Gulches, Windrock, Potts, The Dirty Turtle, and Badlands on this side of the country. Been wheeling since I was about 10 years, and wrenching just as long. Both of which have been a passion and hobby for me ever since. I’ve worked in automotive shops since I was 15 years old, so I’ve picked up many of the technical skills, everything from engine building and rebuilding auto trans to setting up diffs.

As far as my activity within the wheeling community, Ive been part of NVTTORA, Toyota120, the Toyota Land Cruiser Association(TLCA), and the Blue Ribbon Coalition since 2010. I also have experience with working with the State Park and Bureau of Land Management for clean ups and organized trail rides in order to keep trails open as well as for charity programs.

I believe that Sam and Chris Collison have both established something to help the club grow and expand. Sam brought the club together into something more whole than ever. He paved a path to facilitate learning. Whether its learning to fabricate or building a rig, the members rigs this year have gone 0 to 100 freal fucking quick, and I plan to continue that. Also I’ve never seen a club become so close in my years here more so than this year, however, as the year comes to an end, I also noticed that our close knit group of friends/club members has dissipated into smaller cliques for whatever reason it may be, personal problems with each other, commitments to other people, general disputes, drama within the club, ect.

As President, I plan on bringing that unity, that sense of community and comradery back to its former glory through more trail rides/camping trips and weekend get togethers, drinking/wrenching sessions. I want to push people past their comfort zones in wheeling and wrenching abilities. Between next year's members and myself, we have a wealth of knowledge to get you where you need to go. I will have the house on Toms Creek next year and will be able to facilitate these activities at an already familiar venue. And plus theres always gonna be pretty softball bitties at my house….

In addition, what Collison did for the club as far as the Adopt-A-Highway cleanup and the group 4wp discount had been a great success in expanding the club and getting to be known. I plan to continue both those programs as well as to get in touch with more of the wheeling clubs not only in the NRV, but also in the general wheeling areas on this side of the country in order to expand the network of the club.

Another topic I’d like to emphasize is wheeling trips, camping or day trips. I’d like to still organize the usual 2-4 large group trips for the club, but unless there’s a home game I plan on there being some kind of wheeling or wrenching activity. I understand, that time and money is a concern for many members. That is perfectly fine, I know I wont necessarily be wheeling every weekend, but Id like to have something set for every open weekend so that it is still an option for members of the club to decide for themselves to go or not. I’ve been personally able to go on 7 trips this semester, probably been one of the most fun I’ve had in my three years here. The larger wheeling trips can be set ahead of time, but some of the smaller ones can be discussed at either the weekly dinner and/or the meetings. Main point I’m trying to get at is, we’re a fucking wheeling club, lets fucking wheel and have a great time!

Lastly, I may not have the kind of experience as far as number of years in the club as my fellow presidential nominees or as badass of a wheeling rig, but one thing I can offer is loyalty and dedication to the club and its members. I am proud to say that I have had a personal hand in helping most every current club member in this generation with their rigs whether its putting a transmission in at 3AM in a shitbox TJ, regearing axles at 2AM on a Tuesday, replacing front and rear third members in a big gay mud truck in the blistering cold in order to get it ready for the snow storm the following day, or rolling around in a gravel parking lot in order to get a shitbucket JK moving. In either case, I’d be more than willing to help anyone and everyone in the club out, whether its fixing a broken rig, help learning something new or help getting off a mountain, Ill be there no questions asked with whatever you need, unless its BBQ Cheesy Fries night, then I might be a little salty, but ill still be there.

I have decided to not accept my nominations. I appreciate everyone who thinks highly enough of me to become President. I have run several times before and never won, so I suppose that is a sign to pass the reigns on fully. I will still be as active as ever next year.
