6.OH

Post by blackford »

Some people here keep calling me out to make a build thread, especially since I've got a big project coming up once finals finish up. I'll post pictures as that goes down. As she sits, she has a 3" lift on 33s. I redid the interior, used to be a construction truck so I took all that out and got lariat seats, dash, and door panels, put new carpet in.. New speakers and radio head unit.

I just ordered new cylinder heads to put on, new head gaskets and ARP headstuds, bulletproof egr, new oil cooler, coolant filter, and a new ICP sensor. All that to go on in the next few weeks.

I'll get there in a little bit. Don't have any on my computer right now.
And no, we're going to do it with the cab on.

First bought the truck and it had vinyl seats and floors. The door panels were plasti dipped and were peeling badly. I had to take all of that out, deal with the rusty spots on the floor, and then install new carpet. Found some lariat seats on ebay and a set of lariat door panels and dashboard on craigslist.

Christmas break came around and it was time to dive into the engine rebuild. Over thanksgiving break I took it to a shop and they quoted me around 10 grand in repairs for cracked heads and a number of other things. I said thanks but I'll take care of that.
Original Parts list:
2 UCF machine shop cylinder heads
OEM head gaskets
ARP headstuds
Bulletproof EGR cooler
Oil Cooler
Coolant Filter
Blue Spring Kit
Miscellaneous gaskets

Additional broken things:
2 rocker arms
Injector Connector

I forgot to mention that all this occurred in my driveway in below freezing temperatures over the course of a month or so. Definitely miserable some days, but ended up being very worth it. At one point I dropped a bolt in the engine block and had to fish it out with magnets duct taped to a borescope.

Lol, that's always a good feeling.

Looks good, that's a big job to do in your driveway. Did you end up tuning it or anything?

Forgot to mention I have a SCT X4 tuner for it. Just have it on the performance tune right now, nothing crazy. There are a few more issues I'm trying to work through. There's an exhaust leak somewhere, and something up with the suspension in the front that I need to figure out.

Think its about time to post an update on the truck: it's dead. Quit on me about a month ago and drained the oil to find metal shards all over the place. Something got ground up pretty good. My parents have been letting me borrow an extra vehicle to use until I figure out what to do. Been going back and forth between parting it out/selling as is/dropping something else in it. Currently leaning towards parting and just moving on. It'd be 4k minimum to get a new engine in there, and potentially more of a pain than I'm wanting to deal with right now.
