I have decided that I need some alloy front shafts before big dogs. anybody have suggestions before I start researching around on pirate?

alloy usa seems to be pretty good for the price.

you running lockout hubs? if you are, i'd consider bobby long's u-joints. just be dilligent about greasing them.

cool. I emailed DC for a quote. I also have a buddy at a 4wheelparts store so hopefully I can get one or the other to beat prices.

cant beat them ....

but x2 on greasing them often, and with a good grease gun .... cheap grease guns dont seem to have the PSI needed to pump grease into the trunion .... make sure you have a good gun

If you buy the full set of preassembled Alloy USA shafts, they are ready to slide in and come with Spicer u-joints. If you buy them as the full set, they will warrantee the u-joints as well as the shafts. You will have to try pretty hard to break a well maintained Spicer joint when running it with the full circle clips, as we all know, the ears usually tweak first and then destroy the joint which shouldn't happen with the chromos to begin with.

I have spoken with Ron a few times and he seems to be a real stand up guy and definitely backs his products well. I bought a set for the rear, just won't pony up for the front yet. Almost bought a used set off ebay for the front and he said we would still warrantee them for me.

I'm planning on running superior shafts with CTM's (or longfields) because they have a lifetime warranty as opposed to alloy usa's 10 year warranty. I also haven't found anything that says that they make shafts for the dana 44. I'm sure they do, but it doesn't list them on their site.

EDIT:I just ordered their catalog. This wasn't available back when I was researching shafts. They had just a listing of products and ford 44 wasn't on it.

Ron that runs Alloy USA used to run/help run Superior and now the two companies are actually somewhat merged together at least for sourcing and distribution purposes, ie. east coast/west coast full coverage... It shouldn't be long before Alloy USA's ten year warranty becomes a lifetime warranty, once the first gens get most more miles on them without any problems...can't beat them for the price.

Do you think that warranty will transfer to shafts that they sell now?

Obviously I can't say for sure, but I think it would take a lot more effort to differentiate than to just extend the warranty to all shafts. I think it would become a blanket warranty.

From what I can tell so far with Ron's level of customer service, I don't see him asking anyone for proof of purchase date to verify how the shafts are anyway. So far it seems if anyone sends him a couple pics of busted shafts he will send a new pair ASAP.

in the offroading world, 10 years is a damn long time to wheel the same setup anyway.

in 10 years, that ranger will be just a roof line w/ rockwells and 44's.....
