from what i remember, you are correct about the fitting not being threaded. the line is crimped directly onto the splitter block. like Krantz said, you might have some luck at Hose House, but my bet is that you will have to lengthen it on the frame side, or get a bronco-specific lengthened line from a vendor.XXXLT wrote:I've got a couple questions:

Just ordered a 6" longer stainless brake line with dist block already attached from bronco graveyard for $38. Will be easy to install, less flex etc.
What are any thoughts about shocks with bumpstops on them? Would I still need bumpstops on the frame? Any suggestions would be appreceiated.

Shocks with bumpstops on them are a good idea, but are no replacement for traditional bumpstops on the frame.
Here's how I will be setting up my front end. When the axle compresses straight up and down it will contact the bumpstops way before the wheels have compressed into the fender wells like they do under articulation. Therefore I will setup the bumpstops to keep the diff out of the oil pan, and then I will rely on my shock bumpstops to cushion(in cooperation with the frame bumpstops) my articulated travel.
Did that make sense?

As for the bumpstops, are we still talking about the rear, or do you mean the front also? For the rear the factory units in thier stock location are fine, add bumpstop shocks if you'd like. For the front you might want some real bump stops, however I'm just running the stock units on my '79 and they work fine. You might need longer bumpstops on the front of yours though, not sure what the axle to engine crossmember clearance is like on an SAS'ed rig like yours.XXXLT wrote:Hey guys:

limited at best. the TTB crossmember needs to be hacked away quite a bit to clear the pumpkin. It's really best to just hack out the entire middle of that crossmember and re-build it for more clearance. it's something I've been wanting to do on my rig for some time. don't follow my example for bumpstops.VerticalTRX wrote:not sure what the axle to engine crossmember clearance is like on an SAS'ed rig like yours.

Right now, I was just thinking primarily about the rear, but I'll probably wait until I get both axles installed and determine just what height bumpstops are needed on the frame and may consider them on the shocks too. Thanks.

OK, I haven't posted in a while. So here goes.
Finished the 8.8 - 4.56 gears, new bearings/seals, shackle flip, doetsch tech shocks, new brake lines, still looking at options for bump stops.
Front has new JBG super flex coils 5.5 " w/ superlift brackets etc. and extended radius arms, new coil buckets, all new front stainless steel brake lines and extended lines.
P&J in mccoy is working on 4.56s, tru trac, u joints, bearings/seals, doetsch tech shocks, bushings in front TTB; tru trac in rear 8.8; exhaust mods; and inspection.
So I discovered over the weekend that the front radiator support is rusted through right before it gets to the body mount. Any suggestions???

Thats a better choice. The earlier one could have been forced to work by joining the two but new is better.
