Post by Ctrow »

yea fuck the 5 on 5.5, this is getting expensive, just pull front and rear waggy's, run that bolt pattern and all, and sell your rear 44 (should cover the cost of both waggy axles....minus the conversion work) Question me bitch

Did you have to buy more stuff besides the stuff you already ordered?

well, $375 for both axles was a decent deal since the RE brackets (which cost over $300 anyways) were already burned on the axle. But for new bearings, spindles, and seals it was $330, then $30 for the shafts (may not need to count as most would come with shafts), $10 for the backing plates, $50 for calipers, $25 for pads, $30 for hoses, $120 for hub/rotor assembly, $70 for warn hubs, its probly gonna be around $190 for gears and install kit, about $70 for the carrier, $175 for rims for the new bolt pattern, and around $50 for rear wheel adaptors. Plus I'm not sure what I'll do for a draglink yet.....

So $1525, but I'm selling the second housing to Nick for $50, hoping to get about $100 for the old rims, about $200 for the 4 old 30 shafts I won't need, and hopefully about $150-$200 between the old 30 housing, knuckles, calipers, alloy exterior seals and big daddy tie-rod I had. So in the end I think I'm looking at a grand

and thats why I've been at work for over an hour now and will be till 5:30 or 6 :lol2: I have $10 in my checking, and $0.19 in my savings. Yesterday I used my laft gas card and like the idiot I am the first paycheck went to the axles, spindles, bearings, and seals. The second goes to paying off the 600+ I owe on my credit card, and the third goes to an insurance payment coming up. So I won't even get to the rest of that crap till like mid-june

dont go to a junk yard....borrow someone's little car and drive around.....keep an eye out for a waggy just sitting somewhere rusting down....old barns are a good place to look. ask eveyone you see. i found matt that 78 F-150 for $80 w/ motor, tranny, t-case, HP D44 and 9in by just askin guys i knew, and talkin to people who came into advance. fuck junk yards, i've never paid more than $150 for a parts vehicle. i've got two camaros i paid $150 for one (big sway bars and V-8 torque arm and 700R4) and another for $75 (good hood, front fenders, doors). that shit would have cost me over $1000 at the junk yard!

I think if you find front and rear waggys in decent shape, it might not be that bad, plus you could throw the locker in the rear 44.

Make sure you do it right the first time. If you are even considering the swap you should go ahead and do it or else you will just waste money on the 30 like me and Randy did

I didn't do much to mine, just bought one with 4.10s in it and tj shafts but randy regeared his and replaced every bearing and seal in his a few months before he blew the entire thing up.
