Someone scrap metal for free?

Post by shmoken875 »

Buddy of mine bought some land up in Bluefield, West Virginia. Me and my roommate helped him clean out 2 dump trucks of trash,
but we don't have the resources to get two other hunks of metal off the property. One is the frame of an old single wide made
mostly of 1/8" and its around 40 feet long. And another is some kind of funky cart that is about 4'x4' made up of 1/4" (or bigger)x6"
flatbar. He said that he would give $30 for gas money (or just cover gas I'm sure) to who-ever has an OA set-up and wants to scrap it
(obviously you keep all money made on the scrap).

Just let me know so I can let him know because the road is locked off

heres directions, its a little over an hour west on 460:

When does he want this done by and can he/you assist in the cutting and loading of the pieces?

I've got an OA setup as well as a power inverter and my sawzaw/portaband, and I've also got a trailer to haul it on.

It can be done whenever you want, and yes he, I, and maybe more can lend a hand.

the cart (the 1/4" stuff) would be re-useable, theres not much rust on it, I think the paint preserved it pretty well.
As for the trailer frame, I don't know its completely covered in rust, I didn't see any actual rust holes, but I know
I wouldn't re-use it. There is also a bunch more random stuff like 1/4"x4' c-channel, and washing machine shells
laying around the trailer. And next to the trailer theres a big old boiler shell that I couldn't even budge. So theres
a good bit or metal there, should make a few $100 on top of his $30 (scraps like what $100/ton). Let me know if
you're still interested, if not he wan'ts to get somebody up there relatively soon.

Well, I'd love to help him out, but I wouldn't be able to do it till next Friday at the earliest (Nov 2).

If that works for him, then I can probably do it.

He said "thats fine, we'll just find a time when our schedules will all work out" cause he wants me and a few others up there
with chain saws at the same time taking down trees. I don't think it was so much that he wants it done now, just that he wants
to make sure it gets done. I wanted to put it here first to give people in the club a shot but he said unless I get a commitment,
to put this up elsewhere too. So as long as your game, the job is all yours man. I'll give the recyclers a call when I get a chance
to see what they'll pay.

I deffinately wanted to do it myself, but with no trailer or torch I'm not sure I would have had fun. So he had me "Contract" it out. :crybaby2:
