WTB XJ rear leafs
Anyone have any stock XJ rear leaf springs they want to sell? Stretching the YJ over break so i'd like to buy a couple sets.

If you cant find any used ones I know you can get new 7leaf packs from JCWhitney. From what I've heard guys generally have better luck with getting new packs to last them a while but often break the main leaf (even when double main'ed like your planning). That's not to say you will have any trouble with JY ones. Thats also assumes we can get your jeep to start consistently haha

Hey i found out my starter has a lifetime warranty, just wonder how many times they're gonna honor it before they start asking questions. I'm pretty positive it's the water getting to it and messing it up, so the next one i'm gonna rig up some kind of rubber boot to go over each contact and pack it full of dielectric grease.willhf1011 wrote:If you cant find any used ones I know you can get new 7leaf packs from JCWhitney. I find that really interesting. As we know i've had mine submerged and sitting in water for extended periods of time. Not just bobcat but I can think of 2 instances at Rausch where it sat for 5 minutes and another for atleast 25 minutes (cranking til my battery died at that) It was a new starter this spring and has had a rough life but still turns so i guess I'm just curious why yours would be giving out so easily. I'd like to actually get in there and play around with some wires and see exactly how it acts up (if at all)

My guess is something is causing it to short out. Last time it went out it kept getting worse and worse until it just plain wouldn't work. This is what I've normally experienced when I've had a starter go up on a vehicle. This time it never skipped a beat until after coming back up root hill after that ledge place i couldn't make it up last time. I had even started it probably at least six or seven times after the last mud pit with no problems. This time it just completely stopped working and wiggling wires and jumping the solenoid wouldn't get it to do anything.

No i've been busy this week and with the rain didn't feel like working on it this afternoon. I'm hoping to figure out something this weekend. If it's going to do anything it should work no matter whats wrong wiring wise when i jump it with a screwdriver, because it is grounded to the block and is getting power directly from the battery.

yeah but that just includes a bunch of different variables like your battery and the cables to it, ground from battery to block etc.
what i've always done to test them is take a buzz box and run an alligator clip to one of the bolts to the block and then touch another to the ignition terminal directly on the solenoid. if you get nothing obviously its your starter, i'm inclined to believe that theres more going on, but i could definitely be wrong.
